The International Marathon took place in the pole of cold

Can you imagine yourself jogging when it’s 25 below 0? Probably you can’t. Now sit down and take a breath. Cople of weeks ago in Yakutia (The Republic of Sakha, the Far East of Russia) participated in the marathon and were running in the cold of – 50! Unbelievably crazy but strong Russians, don’t they?

Who took part in the “crazy Russian race” and what was the distance?

16 sportsmen (taking into account the weather conditions it was a good number!) took part in the competition. The youngest one is 21 and the oldest one – 71. They competed on 5 distances – 5, 10, 20, 30, and 42 km, but no one could hit the longest one. The winner – a resident of Yakutia Ilya Pesterev – became a new Russian celebrity. His result – 38 km for 3 hours 53 minutes. When the race started it was 52 below 0, but people still make jokes on social media saying that it became warmer by 1 pm, – 49 degrees ????
Do you see how different Russia is from region to region? Here in Petrozavodsk, we enjoy beautiful snowy winter while the survivals of Yakutia are running with frozen beards! ????
